Sharjah is a city in the United Arab Emirates located in the Persian Gulf. Although it has always been more conservative than its southern neighbor, Dubai, it is considered the nation’s cultural capital. Its historic area, with restored houses and museums dedicated to the Emirati customs, is situated in a stream, around which the city developed. It also houses Sharjah Fort, a city history museum that was a royal residence during the 19th century.
Nearby is the Arts Area with institutes and galleries. The main attraction of the district is the Sharjah Museum of Art, which exhibits contemporary Arab and Oriental works of the 18th century. The huge central market with blue mosaics (Blue Souk) is a shopping destination that houses more than 600 stores. Parents take their children to the Sharjah aquarium to see sharks, eels and rays.
On the Corniche seafront, it is usual to take a walk and watch the light shows at the Sharjah Fountain. Eye of the Emirates is a 60 meter high observation ferris wheel with aerial views of the entire city.
Al Mamzar Beach Park
The park has an area of more than 100 hectares that include numerous green areas, showers, barbecues, playgrounds for children, kiosks, swimming pools and cabins for rent.
As in other places, due to the customs of the country, on Mondays and Wednesdays only women and children are allowed to enter.
The beach of Al Mamzar Beach Park is our favorite and one of the favorites for tourists visiting Dubai. Its waters are very calm, it has shaded areas thanks to its palm trees and the park has very complete facilities that allow you to spend a pleasant day away from the heat of the asphalt.
