I had the opportunity to attend the first Halal fair in Spain, ‘Expohalal Spain 2015’, held at IFEMA, Madrid, on October 21 and 22, where the main agents of the global Halal industry met, a term that It encompasses the set of practices, services and healthy products allowed to Muslims.
The event, which was an interesting opportunity to discover Mediterranean food, tourism and Muslim lifestyle, aims to be a meeting point for suppliers and buyers between East and West. Currently Spain has more than three hundred Halal certified companies at present, most of them are part of the agri-food sector, although companies from other sectors such as tourism, cosmetics and logistics also met.
The rapid growth of the Halal industry in Europe offers great business opportunities nationally and internationally. With a population of more than 44 million Muslims, Europe has become an important market for manufacturers and producers of the Halal sector.
