Once again I have had the pleasure of participating in the promotion of tourism and its development in the State of Sharjah of the United Arab Emirates, in the international tourism fair FITUR, International Tourism Fair of Madrid, which this year has had its best edition with a historical record of visitors.
FITUR is an essential appointment for world tourism, one of the most important fairs in the tourism sector worldwide, which was held again at IFEMA Feria de Madrid, bringing together the main travel agencies of 165 countries and the Autonomous Communities of Spain between the days January 20 to 24, 2016.
FITUR 2016 hosted an intense program of conferences and professional meetings, which brought together tourism experts in different areas, to analyze in depth the situation facing the tourism industry and explore new possibilities and business spaces.
The Middle East received special attention in the activities of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in FITUR. During the second day of the Fair, on January 21, the Ministerial Table on Tourism Development Policies in the Middle East and North Africa took place. This meeting was developed in cooperation with Casa Árabe and was an opportunity to discuss strategies to promote initiatives in terms of sustainability and ethics.
